Led by Siggi McGlothlin and Linda Savold, covers a variety of activities including supporting Community of Hope, serving at Daily Bread, food and clothing drives, and fund raisers for church ministries. The ministry also is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Shepherd Center and organizing our church prayer chain.
Daily Bread – Ascension volunteers serve at Daily Bread every fifth Wednesday. Sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex, or you may contact Matt Saab if you are interested in being a server in this wonderful program which helps our neighborhood poor and homeless.
Easter Baskets - The Community of Hope distributes each year Easter Baskets to the kids in their program. This year they need to prepare 59 baskets. Many of their families often live next door to each other, so they are looking for baskets that would fit any child. A 10-12 inch basket with candy and healthy snacks and small any age toys, like bubbles, deck of cards, crayons, or chalk. Dollar Store is a great place for these items. There will be baskets in the narthex, all you have to do it fill them

Community of Hope needs you! The Ascension Lutheran Church Council accepted COH as part of the mission outreach of the congregation. The third statement in Ascension's newly adopted mission statement says, "Serve others." Community of Hope provides a wonderful way to serve others by helping end homelessness in our community.
Community of Hope is a faith-based, ecumenical 501(c)3 that provides housing for families. In Brevard County the number of families in need is rising. The resources available for families are NOT increasing. The Community of Hope mission is focused on working families with children. Community of Hope provides housing for families, including all the necessities/essentials to make a house a home. Family coaches and case management are provided to the families to help them reach their goals for self sufficiency.
Community of Hope has gone from managing a small single-family house 9 years ago to managing 28 homes! The impact COH has on our local community is growing. The newest houses COH has acquired are located across the Eau Galle Causeway in the Eau Galle area. This set of houses has been aptly named "Hope Village." This site, so close to the Ascension congregation, provides many opportunities for service to others. Service projects are available for both individuals and groups as the need is great!
How can YOU help? Community of Hope always needs volunteers for many type tasks. Everything from building maintenance and repair, painting, lawn beautification, office assistance, collecting donated household goods, to coaching/mentoring a family. There are ways for everyone of every age and ability to become involved, helping to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Call COH at (321) 474-0966, or visit the website at www.hopeofbrevard.com or Facebook at Community of Hope, Brevard.
Thank you for all your support!
The Shepherd's Center provides a variety of classes for adults over the age of 55 from a variety of life experiences and faiths. We are people coming together and putting into action the supportive message of the Twenty-third Psalm to sustain and celebrate life. There are three 8-week terms: Fall, Winter and Spring. Class schedule is available on the Shephard Center Website. A member of our church, Larry Boudrie, serves a Director for this organization, assisted by his wife and other members of the congregation.
The Military in Our Prayers – We ask members and visitors to remember all who are serving in the military overseas and at home. A list of individuals is available in our weekly bulletin.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
