WELCA Misson Statement

The Members of the Board:

Secretary: Joyce Straehla

Vice President: Carol Simonides
Treasurer: Siggi McGlothlin

The Mission and Purpose:

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Gatherings:

Tuesdays, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., September through May.  Betty Eyster leads Bible study the first and third Tuesday.  Come join us in making greeting cards for a local assisted living facility, knitting receiving blankets and caps for newborns, and be a part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.  Please join us and be a part of some new projects and services.  We need YOUR ideas too.

We send a WELCA newsletter to all the women of Ascension. Also available in the link below.

Our needle workers are knitting and crocheting baby caps, blankets, scarves, etc.  They meet every Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The Lutheran Chicks meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 pm at local restaurants.  Watch the Booster or bulletin for where we meet next and please feel free to join us for a bit of fellowship and a bite to eat.  Family members are welcome, too!  For December we'll be meeting at Memaw's.

There is something for everyone--and, maybe, you know something else we should/could be doing.  Please join us Tuesday mornings at 9:30!

Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits Thanks

The women collected towels, toothbrushes, combs, and nail clippers for the Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits thru the month of January. Due to the generosity of the congregation W/ELCA was able to put together 58 kits, totaling 105 pounds. Thank you to all, and especially Beatrice for delivering all 8 boxes to St. Timothy's. The very simple gesture of giving a Personal Care Kit can give someone the encouragement to start anew, starting with a bath. With your help, we are sharing God's grace and love by providing that simple comfort.
